What Should I NOT Expect When I Visit Redding reformed?
Don’t expect to be treated like just another visitor. We are glad to have you with us and hope to show you that by our actions. Don’t expect to get lost in the crowd and become just another face. We are a place where you can make a difference.
Don’t expect to endure shallow, man-centered worship. We at Redding Reformed Fellowship understand that when we gather for worship, we are meeting with God, our Creator and Redeemer.
The same goes for the preaching. We will not insult God’s word by treating it lightly. Don’t expect to hear stories about the pastor’s upbringing and clever anecdotes, only solid, biblical exposition. Expect to be confronted with, and by, the Holy God of the universe at every turn. We are “whole-bible” Christians here, and hear the law of God on a regular basis, along with a proclamation of the forgiveness of our sins through the work of Jesus Christ.
Don’t expect to be “treated” to the entertaining sounds of a Christian “Praise Team.” Our congregation is our praise team, and you are a part of it!
What Should I Expect When I Visit?
Here at Redding Reformed Fellowship, we want you to know that we are serious about the worship of God and the teaching of his Word. Far too many churches today see worship as entertainment and preaching as self-help. We agree with the Bible that neither is the case.
When you visit, expect to hear the Word of God preached in all its power, the law proclaimed in all its severity, and the wonderful gospel of Christ proclaimed in all its saving sweetness. The preaching and teaching of the Word of God are the center of everything we do here. Regular, expository preaching of God’s Word is what you can expect whenever you attend.
Expect to find a friendly group of people anxious to get to know you. Even if you have never been to church before or if it has been a long time since you last attended, we want you to feel accepted and welcomed. What matters is not your cultural, economic, racial, or family background. What matters is that you see yourself as a sinner in need of God’s grace and forgiveness.
In today’s world, it is possible that you have attended church all of your life and never heard the gospel or the Bible taught as the unerring and authoritative Word of God that it is, with Jesus Christ and Him crucified as its central message. When you visit us here at RRF expect to hear preaching that understands the Bible to be all of those things. We invite you to come and experience the power and life-changing nature of the Word of God presented in a no-frills, no-compromise, no-fluff manner.
Expect to be confronted with and by the Holy God of the universe at every turn. We are “whole-Bible” Christians here at Redding Reformed and hear the law of God read on a regular basis, along with a proclamation of the forgiveness of our sins.
Finally, expect to hear and sing songs of praise, worship, and prayer, songs that are biblically sound and musically appropriate and which contribute in a very definite and positive way to our knowledge of God and our experience of his grace.
